Roman & Williams

Above: Their bedroom- what decadent hues of blue, and the combination of textures between the gloss of the floor, the eggshell walls the sheepskin. I want to go to there.
Above: I keep telling myself I want a myriad of different glasses in my collection, this is a very good reminder of that goal.

Above: Candlesticks and art.
Above: I'd love to have those cutting boards, not to mention a constant still life in my kitchen.
Above: Really love these old bathrooms, subway tiles, pillar sinks, black floors and brass hardware.
Above: Fuck your couch.
A library room INSIDE another room. Again, there's something about black floors and white walls that gives me such a sense of nostalgia. Add a few preserved snakes in jars and a philodendron or two and I'm in heaven.

This loft is the artistry (and living space) of husband-and-wife team Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch, the couple behind design firm Roman & Williams. From the mouth of the horse "I hate design,” says Standefer. “It’s so pretentious, awful and academic. We’re anti-design. We like when something breaks off or is half done. It’s not that something has to feel real. It has to be real. Life is not always going to be perfect. A space should reflect that.” Amen sister.

Check their new book out (aka buy it for me) at Amazon.

Bona Moon

Oh I do love Bona Drag Lookbooks. Such rare beasts they are, but always worth the wait. Who's in for a spontaneous ride to Joshua Tree right this minute?

I'm Feelin' Mermaid

"The cure for anything is salt water- sweat, tears, or the sea".
-Isak Dinesen (pen name of Baroness Karen Blixen)

I don't know what's going on with the weather, but every day of late Venice has smelled like the ocean. It sounds silly to celebrate, but for a place right on the water, I rarely get the scent of salt at my front door step. It brings nostalgia for the east. I may define that smell as Heaven. Charlie is with me.

Holy Sh*t

Pardon my language. It's just, I didn't expect to stumble across the BEST THING EVER today. I know what you're thinking, this is a fine restaurant and all, but why all the excitement Liz? Why all the excitement???? Because this lovely piece of work ain't no restaurant, it's a library that serves cocktails!!! That's right, you heard me. It's heaven here on earth. I'm moving to Australia.

"Located in Cronulla, a suburb of Sydney, the Old Library building dates from 1908 (it was a Methodist church that was later converted into a library). Owner Mario Kalpou worked with design firm Hecker Guthrie to create a lofty, white-painted vaulted space with fireplace alcoves, industrial lighting, and luxe linen lounge seating. Stylist Sibella Court sourced animal heads by London artist Lucie McCann, rugs by Armadillo, and commissioned library wall murals by Sydney-based Hugh Ford. It all adds up to a bookworm's paradise."

Ulyana Strikes Back

Isn't she just the cutest? Ulyana went all American for her Spring 2013 Couture collection, and I must say, I like her version of the American South far more than ours.
